Private sector eyes partnership with LCC in City development

Lusaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry team on Thursday 8, 2008 paid a courtesy call on Her Worship the Deputy Mayor to discuss how the private partnership with the private sector can be promoted in the development of the City. LCCI Chairman Dr Gaudenzi Rossi introduced the team and said the agenda was first to re-establish contact and engage with the local authorities to deal with

LCC embarks on issuance of Stalls Licences

Lusaka City Council has started issueing Stalls licences in the markets. The Licencing officer Marina Mangani said her office together with the Task Force on revenue collection were going round the markets issueing the licence upon a payment of K50 000. She said the issuance of Stall licences was in accordance with the Trades Licencing Act CAP 393 of the Laws of Zambia.

Kamwala shopping centre stalls gutted with fire

50 stalls inside the market were burnt down
At least 50 stalls at Kamwala shopping centre in Lusaka were gutted with fire in the early hours of Sunday 6th April 2008 leaving goods worth millions of Kwacha in ashes. The cause of the fire at the market has not yet been established but some traders suspected that it could have been due to an electric fault or a charcoal brazier which could have been left on, in one of the stalls.
