Public Health

The Public Health and Social Services Department has ten (10) operational sections. These sections are specialized and charged with the responsibility of ensuring that council services are delivered to the residents of the city of Lusaka. Their assignments are as follows:

Cleansing Section
Management of solid waste in the city
Sweeping and cleaning the city in the central business district
Collecting, transporting and disposing the solid waste at the designated dump site
Pest Control

• Insecticide spraying against cockroaches, fleas, rodents, mosquitoes etc
• Collecting and disposing of dead dogs and cats from city streets
• Control the spread of rabies by ensuring that dog owners take their pets for vaccinations
