PROGRESS/UPDATE ON STREET LIGHTING PROJECTS IN THE CITY

Lusaka City Council has embarked on a series of street lights maintenance works. The works involve replacement of fused lamps and other related switch gears.

AIRPORT ROAD STREET LIGHTS
Lusaka City Council through the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has procured all the materials for street lighting on the airport road. The project zone is stretching from airport roundabout to the last police check point, entry into the airport premises. Works are being executed in-house by Lusaka City Council, Engineering Services Department. However the street lights project along Airport road has been halted by National Airport
Corporation Management. This is in bid to pave way for the construction of a dual carriage way. The start date and end date of the airport dual carriage way has not been communicated yet to Lusaka City Council and this has made it difficult for the Council to progress with the planned works.

FREEDOM WAY STREET LIGHTING
The Council has overhauled the street lights on the entire stretch of freedom way street and new street lights are being installed. So far poles have been mounted, lanterns installed and in the next two weeks, the officers in Engineering Department Electrical Section will be installing cables, side by side energizing the street lights in readiness for the Independence celebrations.

NANGWENYA STREET LIGHTS
The stretch has been completed and is being commissioned by end of this Month of March,2014.
