LCC to soar to the top…. Recruits 12; offloads 10 players

In a bid to seek promotion to the elite Premier Division next season, Lusaka City Council (LCC) football team has recruited 12 new players for the 2017 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) league season and has offloaded 10 players; three of them on free transfer.
LCC Sports Officer, Bright Shikapande named the recruited players as goalkeepers, Ronny Mukuka from Happy Hearts and Mathews Lonazi from Mtendere Academy both of Lusaka.
Others are defenders; Edgar Namushi and Lackson Phiri (Edusport), midfielders; Isaac Lungu (Msisi Academy), Innocent Mwansa (Mufulira Blackpool), Augustine Keshi Matero United), Daniel Phiri (Msisi Academy) and Frank Fube (Napsa Stars).
The rest are strikers; Eddie Banda (Msisi Academy), Aaron Mulenga (Sable United) and Kaimana from Nampundwe United, while George Mwaba, a defender has been upgraded from the LCC under 19 football team.
Those that have been released on free transfer are; Zulien Phiri, Remy Phiri and Alfred Musonda, while Joseph Chanda, Tudah Chisanga, Kampion Phiri, Samson Phiri, Mathews Nyirenda, Thomson Sakala and Kidra Siame have left the club.
And Town Clerk, Alex Mwansa, said LCC was determined to be promoted to the FAZ Premier Division next season, hence the drastic changes to the team.
Mwansa was confident LCC will soar to the top especially with the recent recruitment of coach, Weston Mumba who is expected to revive the team’s fortune.
Mumba replaced former Zanaco midfielder Lawrence Lubinda, who was acting trainer following the departure of Chris ‘Gaza’ Tembo.
LCC ended the 2016 soccer season on fifth position with 44 points after winning 12 games, drawing eight and losing 10 games.
And club secretary Morgan Bweupe said LCC is scheduled to take on National Assembly in the 2017 FAZ Division One, Zone One Week One league Fixtures at Nationalist stadium on April 9, 2017, LCC will engage Riflemen on April 16, 2017 and will be engaged in a tussle with Lundazi United on April 23, 2017 in their Week Three fixture in Eastern province.
