Lusaka City Council (LCC FC) Football Club

FORMATION OF THE CLUB (YEAR, PLACE)

  • L.C.C. Football club started on social football by mostly Lusaka City Council employees in about 1965/66
  • It became an Amateur team in about 1967

GROUND

There was an open area where today there is Cheers Shopping Centre behind Kabwata High-rise Flats on Burma Road.  This was the first play ground.

Later Zambia Police allowed LCC Football Club to use the Imboela Stadium for matches.

The early 1970s saw the recommendation to the Full Council for the construction of Nationalist Stadium which was later constructed and commissioned in the late 1970s.

FOUNDING PLAYERS

This is a list of some people who started the social football and later became registered in the Amateur League:

The first Executive Members were as follows:

  1. S.P. Mulenga – Chairman
  2. Francis Nkoswe – Secretary
  3. N. Palale – Treasurer
  4. A. Ngoma – Team Manager
  5. Ng’wane – Vice Chairman

It must be mentioned that Mr. Andrew Ngoma served as team manager from the team’s inception up to a few years before his demise.  He was responsible for talent identification as well.

It was formerly registered under the Housing Department and joined the Lusaka District Amateur League in the late 1960s.

The League comprised of six (6) teams.  They later became affiliated to Midlands Football League under the National Football League which later became FAZ.

LCC Football Club moved from the Amateur League to division three (30 of National Football League in the late 1970s, moving up to division two (2).  At that time there was division 1 now premier, division two (2) and division three (3)

LCC Football club has been promoted to Premier League on two occasions in the 1990s under the Chairmanship of Zack Machaliwa.
