This event was part of the institution’s practical training program, highlighting the importance of hands-on experience.

During her demonstration, Ilongo encouraged young people to seize skills training opportunities available through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). She emphasized that acquiring skills is key to a better future.

The Lusaka City Council invites all interested youths to register for the 2026 CDF Skills Fund. This initiative aims to promote skills training and self-reliance among Zambian youths, empowering them to take charge of their futures.

Lusaka District Commissioner Rosa Zulu has called on residents of Munali Constituency to take an active role in safeguarding public infrastructure developed through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

During a tour of completed and ongoing CDF projects in the area, Ms. Zulu urged the community to refrain from vandalism and instead embrace a spirit of ownership and responsibility. “These projects are not just government investments; they are your assets as a community,” she said. “Every school, clinic, and road constructed under the CDF is meant to uplift your lives of citizens. Let us protect them, use them wisely, and pass them on to the next generation in good condition.”

Ms. Zulu commended the local CDF committee for prioritizing projects that directly respond to the pressing needs of Munali residents, noting that this demonstrates the government’s commitment to people-driven development.

Munali Ward 38 Councillor Milupi Lubasi expressed appreciation to the government, acknowledging the visible progress taking place in the constituency.

LCC ENHANCES SECURITY WITH EIGHT POLICE POSTS IN LUSAKA

Lusaka City Council (LCC) has constructed eight police posts in a bid to enhance security in the city, utilizing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in the period of 2022 to 2024. The police posts are built across various constituencies in the city.

Three police posts have been constructed in Kanyama Constituency namely:Makeni Bonaventure,Shalom and Leonard Cheelo. In Kabwata Constituency two police posts have been constructed, namely: Lackson Mapushi and Katungu. Meanwhile,
Matero Constituency benefited with one police post namely: Chunga police post, Mandevu Constituency has also one police post namely: Chaisa police post and lastly, Munali Constituency has built Kamanga police post in the said period.

A total of K5,515,468.48 was spent on constructing these eight police posts.

The construction of these police posts is part of the Council’s broader effort to enhance community safety and security, with some more police posts currently under construction in the city.

The Local Authority is commitment to ensuring that meaningful development in achieved through the use of CDF.

GREEN ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT MINISTER UNDERSCORES THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Minister of Green Economy and Environment Honourable Mike E Mposha, MP, has stressed the significance of skills development programs under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Secondary Boarding and Skills Development Bursaries component.

The Minister emphasized the importance of skills development programs when he officiated at a colourful ceremony of the 2025 CDF Youth, Women and Community Empowerment Grants and Boarding Secondary School and Skills Bursaries.

Hon. Mposha, who is also the area Member of Parliament for Munali Constituency, said skills development programs are the right and profitable investment for youths.

He noted that skills development programs are beneficial, hence the need for students to take a keen interest and acquire skills in their respective programs, as these programs will be of valuable assistance once completed.

At the event, Hon. Mposha handed over a cheque of K6,139,396.00 to the Secondary Boarding and Skills Development beneficiaries and an additional cheque of K2,325,000.00 to the youth, women and community empowerment beneficiaries, respectively.

The Minister has since urged beneficiaries under the CDF empowerment grants to utilize funds prudently, as the funds are like seed money that ought to be used for the proposed business ventures and yield successful results.

BEHOLD, CDF GIVES TWASHUKA COMBINED SCHOOL ITS FIRST EVER DOUBLE-STOREY CLASSROOM BLOCK

A double-storey 1×6 modern classroom block stands tall at Twashuka Combined School, a striking addition that expands learning space for pupils in Kanyama Constituency.

Hailed as the first-ever public learning infrastructure of its kind in Kanyama, this classroom block is also among the standout projects executed under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) across the country.

Constructed using the CDF 2023 allocation at a cost of about K2m (K2,018,807.03), the morden facility is set to ease the strain on school spaces, a challenge intensified by the free education policy that has significantly increased enrollment.

Previously, Twashuka Combined School’s secondary section could only accommodate 3,900 learners. With this new addition, the school’s capacity has now expanded to 6, 600 learners, ensuring more children have access to quality education.

Adorned in a fresh coat of light blue paint, the classroom block is fully furnished with 300 single desks and 100 double-seater desks, reinforcing President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive that no learner should have to sit on the floor during lessons.

Beyond classrooms, the block also boasts essential amenities, including a welcoming visitors’ foyer, a headteacher’s office, a secure strong room, and executive toilets – all designed to enhance both learning and administration.

And Minister of Education, Hon. Douglas Siakalima has disclosed that the government is working towards constructing new schools and rehabilitating existing infrastructure to increase learner uptake and improve education quality.

Speaking through Lusaka’s Provincial Education Officer, Mr. Perry Changwe, the Minister, reaffirmed government’s commitment to providing adequate support to schools like Twashuka.

He added that Twashuka has met the necessary prerequisites to become a centre of excellence.

Speaking at the same event, Kanyama member of Parliament, Monty Chinkuli said that the commissioning of the magnificent 1 by 6 Twashuka double-story classroom block is a dream come true.

The Kanyama Lawmaker indicated that Twashuka remains the central most learning facility, with most its pupils being drawn from all six wards.

He said that the classroom block will help in creating room to meet the growing demand for education in the constituency.

Kanyama ward 13 Councillor, Leonard Cheelo, has thanked Government for the increased CDF allocation.

The passionate civic leader described the newly constructed double-story classroom block at Twashuka as a symbol of hope for Kanyama, citing that learners have an opportunity to dream big through the provision of quality education.
