Headed by the Director of Housing and Social Services (DHSS), this department delivers community development services and social protection programs to improve citizens’ quality of life.
- Key Sections:
- Community Development Section: Mobilizes communities, coordinates social protection programs (GBV, child abuse, etc.), drives skills development and community sports, enhances education (early childhood, adult literacy), and manages community voluntary organizations.
- Peri-Urban and Housing Section: Oversees unplanned settlement upgrades, facilitates occupancy licenses and utility access, manages squatter settlements, and maintains housing data.
- Markets and Bus Stations Section: Manages the operations of markets and bus stations (stall allocation, service provision, revenue collection, user experience).
- Library Services Section: Provides comprehensive library and information services for educational and research needs.
