The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has made significant strides in improving the education sector through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Between the years 2022 and 2025, the Council delivered 130 classrooms to 7 constituencies, enhancing the learning environment in various schools.
This initiative has helped decongest overcrowded classrooms and accommodate new pupils, particularly with the implementation of the free education policy. The additional classrooms have provided a more conducive learning environment, enabling pupils to focus on their studies.
In addition to the classrooms, the CDF has also provided 21,775 desks to schools across the 7 constituencies between 2022 and 2025. These desks have improved sitting arrangements for pupils, making them to learn in a more comfortable environment and eliminating the need for students to sit on the floor.
The provision of desks and classrooms has had a positive impact on the education system in Lusaka. Students can now learn in a more comfortable and conducive environment, which is essential for their academic success.
The Lusaka City Council’s commitment to delivering services to the public is evident in its efforts to improve the education sector. By providing classrooms and desks, the council is supporting the government’s initiative to provide free education and ensuring that students have access to quality learning facilities.
Through the CDF, the Lusaka City Council continues to prioritize the needs of its citizens, particularly in the education sector. The council’s efforts to improve learning infrastructure will have a lasting impact on the lives of students and the community at large.
