LCC EXTENDS CLEAN ENVIRONMENT INITIATIVE TO YOUTHS
Lusaka City Council (LCC) Public Health Director Mr. Victor Kagoli says the Clean Environment Mantle has been extended to the young ones to ensure the environment, particularly the City, is clean.
The Director said this during a clean-up activity held at the Kamwala Freedom Statue area, meant to champion the Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign.
Mr. Kagoli noted that the activity has been extended specifically to the youths, considering that they are the future leaders, hence ought to take up the mantle and ensure the environment is clean.
Mr. Kagoli also disclosed that Government has put in place policies that ensure the City and the nation as a whole is Clean.
He cited policies that ensure the smooth management of Solid Waste, among others, as enshrined in the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act No. 20 of 2018, which stipulates that every person must take responsibility for the waste they generate.
Speaking at the same event, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), Branch Manager, Ms Minji Ko said the clean up activity was not just about the waste on the ground, but “the mind we choose to carry as a society in our endeavor” to foster cleanliness and peace.
She urged participants to work closely with the Local authorities in ensuring communities in the city are clean.
Others that joined in the clean up activity included: NIPA, Recyclers, Evelyn Hone College, Rotary club of Maluba, Lotus Secondary School and Habitat for Humanity Zambia.
