Lusaka District Commissioner, Mrs. Rosa Zulu Kayuni, has assured Chawama constituents of the government’s support towards development.
Officiating the handover of K3,734,000 realised from 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loans component to 71 beneficiaries in Chawama Constituency, Mrs. Zulu said the government will continue to work with the area Member of Parliament, Tasila Mwansa Lungu to ensure development reaches the most vulnerable in the constituency.
The District Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively, create jobs and contribute to the growth of the local economy through sustainable businesses.
She expressed gratitude to the New Dawn Government for increasing the CDF allocation from K1.6 million to over K36 million per constituency, highlighting the government’s commitment to community development.
The District Commissioner also emphasized the importance of community members knowing their leaders to facilitate easy access to information pertaining CDF programs.
She advised the CDF committee to ensure that every constituency member benefits from the fund without segregation.
“To those still doubting, move from being spectators to participants,” she encouraged.
In a speech read on her behalf by John Howard, Ward 3 Councillor, Ponsilio Phiri, Lusaka Mayor Ms. Chilando Chitangala emphasized the role of citizens in decision-making and national development.
She noted that decentralization is a permanent fixture in governance and that communities must strengthen their participation in decision-making by starting and running good businesses using the CDF loans.
The Area Member of Parliament and CDF Chairperson thanked the government for the support and expressed confidence that the loans would have a significant impact on the development of Chawama Constituency.
