The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has made significant progress in addressing water challenges in Matero Constituency through the Madimba Water Reticulation Project. Funded by the 2023 Constituency Development Fund, the project involves drilling two solar-powered boreholes to supply clean water to the community.
Previously, residents of Mwembeshi Ward in Matero Constituency relied on shallow wells, which posed health risks due to the potential for disease outbreaks like cholera and typhoid. The new boreholes, located at Dina Kaimba and Chunga Secondary School, will provide a reliable source of clean water for drinking and household use.
The project, valued at approximately K300,000, is nearly complete, with a completion rate of 98%. It is expected to be finalized within the next month, bringing much-needed relief to the residents of Mwembeshi Ward.
The Constituency Development Fund continues to play a vital role in driving local development across Zambia, supporting key sectors such as infrastructure, water, and sanitation. These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving public services and infrastructure in Matero Constituency.
By investing in water infrastructure, the government is not only meeting a fundamental need but also enhancing the overall health, well-being, and productivity of the community. The Madimba Water Reticulation Project showcases the transformative impact of CDF funding on local communities.
The Lusaka City Council assures the community that all CDF-funded projects are being executed to high standards of quality and within agreed timeframes, reflecting the government’s dedication to improving the lives of its citizens.
