OVER 90 COOPERATIVES IN CHAWAMA CONSTITUENCY RECEIVE GRANTS; 865 YOUTHS AWARDED SKILLS AND BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOL BURSARIES

A total of 107 cooperatives in Chawama Constituency have been empowered with grants worth K2,491,288, provided by the government through the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Additionally, the government has awarded Skills and Boarding Secondary School bursaries valued at K7,734,108 to 865 beneficiaries.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Lusaka Mayor, Ms. Chilando Chitangala described the grants and bursaries as not merely handouts but investments in the future of the city that will bring positive impacts to communities and the country at large.
The Mayor commended the government for the initiative and encouraged the continuation of such efforts, emphasising their importance in ensuring young people have access to resources necessary for their success.
She reaffirmed her commitment to facilitating citizens’ access to opportunities that can enhance their lives, with education and skills development being key areas of focus for Administration.
At the same event, Lusaka District Commissioner, Mrs. Rosa Zulu expressed gratitude to the government for the community grants and bursaries, recognising their role as a source of empowerment that fosters entrepreneurship and drives economic growth in Zambia.
Represented by the District Coordinator of Fisheries and Livestock, Mr Presley Mushikita, Mrs. Zulu highlighted that grants help strengthen businesses and improve livelihoods within communities, while skills bursaries enable access to quality education and employment opportunities.
She urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly and advised students to approach their studies with the seriousness they deserve.
